QUESTIONNAIRE ABOUT JUNKYARDS

Please participate in this survey about junkyards.  The Town’s Board of Selectmen and Planning Board are looking for some input from citizens about enforcement of junkyards in Town.

First the definition of a junkyard or automotive recycling yard means an establishment or place of business which is maintained, operated, or used for storing, keeping, buying or selling junk, or for the maintenance of operation of an automotive recycling yard, and includes garbage dumps and sanitary fills.  Junkyards do not include any motor vehicle dealers registered with the Director of Motor Vehicles under RSA 261:104 and controlled under RSA 236:126.

Junk means old or scrap copper, brass, rope, rags, batteries, paper, trash, rubber debris, waste, or junked, dismantled, or wrecked automobiles, or parts thereof, iron, steel and other old or scrap ferrous or nonferrous material.

Do you know of such a place in your general neighborhood where a junkyard exists?
Please identify location:
Are you concerned about the condition of this property?
Why?
Do you favor the Town taking action to clean up this site even if it involves tax dollars?
What kind of enforcement would you like to see instituted?
If you are an owner of a property that meets this definition, what kind of action are you willing to take to make your property fit in with your neighborhood?
